Our second study of the Abrahamic covenant, and the institution of circumcision among the Hebrews. With this covenant, God renewed His promise of an heir – Isaac – to Abraham and Sarah.

Paul responds to apparent accusations regarding his personal conduct and financial support of his ministry.

God reiterates His promise of an heir to Abraham and Sarah whose descendants will inherit the land of Canaan. God establishes circumcision as the seal of His covenant with Abraham.

This is now the third time God promised Canaan and the surrounding region to Abram’s descendants. God now clarifies that promise, and also promises Abram an heir to inherit the promise. God formalized the promise with the cutting of a covenant between Himself and Abram. Abram’s faith in God’s promise was credited to him as righteousness.

Paul continues his chastisement of the Corinthian church concerning the contentions among themselves, and the sexual immorality in their midst.

Paul reiterates his admonitions from 1 Corinthians 1 & 2 before pressing on into the main business for which he is writing to the church at Corinth.

In the conclusion of the gospel of John, we read about Jesus’ restoration of Peter and His admonition not to worry about what others are doing, but to focus strictly on following Jesus.
