Paul responds to apparent accusations regarding his personal conduct and financial support of his ministry.
God reiterates His promise of an heir to Abraham and Sarah whose descendants will inherit the land of Canaan. God establishes circumcision as the seal of His covenant with Abraham.
This is now the third time God promised Canaan and the surrounding region to Abram’s descendants. God now clarifies that promise, and also promises Abram an heir to inherit the promise. God formalized the promise with the cutting of a covenant between Himself and Abram. Abram’s faith in God’s promise was credited to him as righteousness.
Paul reiterates his admonitions from 1 Corinthians 1 & 2 before pressing on into the main business for which he is writing to the church at Corinth.
