Last day in the Upper Peninsula today. After visiting Tahquamenon Falls State Park, we continued to Whitefish Point, and then directly south across the Straits of Mackinac to our campsite on the shore of Lake Huron.

No travel today. We remained in the Munising, MI area, and took a boat tour of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

Our journey along the Lake Superior shore from northern Wisconsin to the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness in the upper peninsula of Michigan.

After wandering around the headwaters of the Mississippi this morning, we continued eastward to the Wisconsin shore of Lake Superior.

Continuing our return from western South Dakota, we visited the monuments to Sakagawea and Sitting Bull in Mobridge, SD before continuing through southeastern North Dakota to the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Itasca Lake in central Minnesota. Along the way, we visited the world’s largest “catfish.”

Reflections on our time in South Dakota as we turned eastward across the great plains toward the great north woods.

A round-about way of going to visit family in Michigan and friends in Ohio and Virginia by way of the Dakotas and Minnesota.
