Before launching our verse-by-verse study of Genesis we need to examine the general structure and history of the book.
A comprehensive familiarity with Genesis is key to understanding the
remainder of God’s Word – not only because Genesis details the early history of God’s chosen people
Israel, but also because the stories of creation, the fall of man, and the great flood that we find in
Genesis provide the framework for the overarching theme of God’s Word – the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
